Book recommendation: The Top 10 Things Dead People Want to Tell You

Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell YouI confess, I finished reading this book a few months ago, but I wasn’t writing much for this website at the time. So my memory may be a little rusty about Mike Dooley’s book, The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You.

Overall, I liked it. It was an interesting look at life after death by someone who’s not a medium.  On his website, Dooley says he used the same things he does when he writes his daily Notes from the Universe: “logic, intellect, reason, deduction, intuition and experience.”

I suspect he used a whole lot of intuition.

What I found interesting where the ways his book lined up with what I’ve learned over the years from doing mediumship readings for my clients. Both about the nature of life after physical death and the way the entire universe works.

Here’s an example of a spot-on explanation that helped me in my work with clients. It’s about reincarnation and how that whole thing works: is it all in one linear time-line, where we become someone new, leaving behind who we were in the past lifetime? Or does it happen a little differently?

“Consider, perhaps, that maybe one’s personality is like a leaf on a soul-tree from which other leafy incarnations grow. And consider, perhaps, that since time is an illusion, all leaves play out simultaneously even though they also belong to different time eras.”

I love this idea, of our soul self being the tree, and each of our lifetimes being like leaves on its branches.

In other ways, I found his explanations both more complex and too simple (weird how that can occur at the same time). To his credit, Mike Dooley is upfront in saying that “words slip and fail when it comes to painting pictures of reality.”

I didn’t care for the “letters” from people who had died, as they weren’t actual letters, as far as I can tell. And some of the explanations, as far as being able to create our own reality, seemed a little too pat. But that’s just my take on it.

The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You chapter titles:

  1. We’re not dead
  2. There’s no such thing as a devil or hell
  3. We were ready
  4. You’re not ready
  5. We’re sorry for any pain we may have caused.
  6. Your dreams really can come true
  7. “Heaven” is going to blow your mind!
  8. Life is more than fair
  9. Your “old” pets are as crazy as ever

Overall, it’s an interesting, uplifting and enlightening read and one I recommend for your continued spiritual growth and education. With everything you read, the classes you take, and even the people you choose as your teachers, listen to your own inner voice as far as what’s true for you.
